Den Meetings

Leaders, please coordinate with your families to set the schedule for your den meetings this spring.  Families, if you do not know your den leader’s contact info, check this link on our web site:  Leader Roster

Pinewood Derby – Coming Soon!!!  Are you ready?

There are still several scouts who have not picked up their Pinewood Derby cars.  Please make arrangements with me to meet at school or swing by my house.  You may call my cell to make arrangements (786) 393-8340.

The derby is Saturday January 24th from 12:00 until we are done (est. 3:00pm).  This will be a fun day of racing and recognition.  We are going to merge our regular Pack Meeting into this event so please be there and wear your full Class “A” uniform.

Virginia Key Campout and Blue & Gold BBQ

We need your registrations for the Virginia Key camp out.  This year we will again celebrate the anniversary of Scouting with a Blue and Gold “BBQ”.  Danny promises to top last year’s Caja China with another fine example of Cuban cooking.  This time… Save me some skin!!!  Seriously, this is a feast you won’t want to miss.  The Virginia Key Beach Park is a wonderful park off the Rickenbacker Causeway on the way to Key Biscayne.  They have a great bathroom/shower facility so for those families looking for a comfortable close to home trip, this is it!  We will camp Friday night through Sunday morning.  The cost is $40 per person.  If you only wish to attend the BBQ, come Friday night and bring $5 per person.

Scout Sunday to be rescheduled

We are rescheduling our observance of Scout Sunday from February 1st.  Troop 362 will be out of town that weekend and we will be camping the following weekend.  I will advise when a new date has been scheduled.

All the best everyone!

OLD CUTLER HIKE – Saturday November 22nd
This is your last chance to sign up for the Old Cutler Hike.  This historic hike is a great opportunity to learn much about Miami’s past and learn about ourselves and how to face a challenging task.  We will have a drink/snack wagon meeting our group at several points along the route.  Registration is available on the pack website. Or call Bruce to sign-up.

PACK MEETING November 26th
Remember that this month’s Pack Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday November 26th.  Make sure to wear your Class A uniforms.  DEN LEADERS please email any award progress to Bruce for recording into our Pack Master software.  Parents, if your scout has completed achievements at home make sure to update your Den Leader on his progress.

CAMPING TRIP – December 12th-14th
If you are planning on camping at Tanah-Keeta with the Pack we need your sign-up information and payments no later than at the November Pack Meeting.  Our committee will need time to make final deposits and food preparations.  The campout fee is $40 per camper.  Registration is available on the pack website.

You are invited to hike the 34th anniversary of the Old Cutler Historical Trail Hike on November 22, 2008. The hike will begin at the Torch of Friendship (in front of Bayside Mall) at 401 Biscayne Blvd. in downtown Miami and ends at Pinecrest Gardens (11000 Red Road, Pinecrest, FL, 33156).

The cost is $5.00 per hiker. Units that pre-register will have first priority of patches; additional patches will be ordered if necessary. You may register on November 22nd and hike the trail (Please note that on-site registration is $10.00 per hiker, so please pre-register!).

Check-in opens at 7:30 A.M. at the torch side, and our Pack will begin hiking no later than 8:30 A.M. Uniform for the day is class B (Pack T-Shirt)

Water is a must! Bring a cup or canteen! Pack 361 will set up water/snack stations along the route or a “water/snack wagon” (car or van) for the hike. You can park your car at Pinecrest Gardens (swale area) in the morning and carpool to Bayside. Pinecrest has opened a Community Center west of the Gardens – the gates open at 6 A.M.

Maps for the hike are available at www.sfcbsa.org.

This is a 12.6 mile hike.  We will stop for 15 minute water/snack breaks on average every 3 miles.  Each year we see Tiger (6 year old) scouts complete this hike so with a little effort it is attainable for all of our boys.

Each scout that completes the hike will be awarded a special medal in honor of their achievement.  Each medal costs $8.00 and must be pre-ordered so please indicate on the registration form if you plan to complete the hike.

All fees are non-refundable once we register and pay the council.
